In the peaceful and calm village of Singhpur, just a couple of kilometres away from Varanasi, lies Sarnath. It is stated in mythological stories that Lord Buddha preached the sermon of the Noble Eight-Fold Path to the common for the first time after achieving enlightenment in Sarnath. For history lovers, Sarnath is the perfect place to be at. Emperor Asoka, who devoted himself to Buddhism, has built several monuments (especially the Stupas) for spreading the word of Buddhism throughout the world. Another place famous in Sarnath is the Mulagandha Kuti Vihar which showcases the beautiful wall paintings of the Japanese artists. The chants on the rhythm of bells, conch shells and other Indian traditional instruments take you in a trance phase.
